about me
  about me...

I was born in Boston, MA and grew up in the suburb of Andover. Along with drawing and painting, my favorite subject in school was creative writing. If it hadn’t been for art and writing, I would have become a veterinarian, as I also loved chemistry, biology and animals.

Instead, however, I grabbed every illustration elective available at RIT in Rochester, NY, and graduated with a BA in communication design. And a boatload of design and artwork.

I migrated south, to Atlanta, GA and began freelancing, doing various illustration and logo design jobs. But the “writing” part was what I missed.

Think I like cats?

In September of 1984, six months after my father died, I began working on what would eventually become my first book. Six years later The Book of Shadowboxes was published, and was subsequently turned into IBM’s award-winning version of the book on CD-ROM, as an educational, recreational computer game.
